Follow link for more pictures of Torres Del Paine and others from Easter Island
Torres Del Paine is a national park to the North of Pûnta Arenas. We arrived at the Torres via another bus and started the popular W circuit of the track (called that because its in the shape of a W) by getting a Catamaran to Paine Grande. The weather at the Torres is famous for being windy, wet and generally miserable and although we almost got thrown off the jetty getting onto the boat we were very lucky with the weather. There are three look outs of the W, one a stunning glacier (Greys Glacier) and the other two lookouts are for the Torres (a set of granite mastiffs pushed out through layers of sedimentary rock creating a strange but beautiful juxtaposition- thank you to the Geologist!). Condors and Pumas are common in the park however Adrienne was very disappointed not to see a Puma for her nephew Jamie. We were lucky enough to see several Condors up close and personal. Adrienne doesn´t know what she would have done if she had been lucky (or unlucky) enough to see a Puma.
In total we walked 22 hours in three days so hopefully we´ve walked off the steak and Dulce de Leche (caramel) that we are craving in Santiago.
Time spent on ass - Adrienne x2 (one large bruise to prove it!)
Feet soaked when crossing waterfalls - Adrienne x3
Cost of Diet Coke - don´t know but too expensive
Thoroughly recommend the trip to anyone.
Next stop Santiago
